Officially the kindergarten was opened in 1967. The first director was Mariya Nikolova Georgieva.

In 1974 a new and well-appointed building was available where 90 children were being taught. Then a new director was appointed – Lidiya Tsvetanova Vankova.

During these years the kindergarten wasn’t named. This happened in 2008 when the institution was named ‘Rainbow’.
